What about da sistaz?

Didn't go to the Global Peace and Unity Conference this year. I heard it was great. Awesome scholars too. But man, I'm told there are good prospects for marriage out there if i'm looking. Yes i'm looking -- and I bet life would be much easier if my name was Ahmed and I were a boy. How are we sisters supposed to do this thing called "find the right one" without crossing any islamic boundaries?

How do you do it? -- 'em hello there brother. I'm young, arab, fun and very muslim, given i'm out at this conference listening to that important scholar. I like cooking and I don't mind getting along with yo mother. Would you like to talk about marriage?"

Do the scholars ever talk about how sisters can approach the idea of marriage once they're ready and looking?

gotta start from somewhere. here's where i went: http://www.askaboutmarriage.com/

I'm in the same boat as you attending every Christian Conference that I can,but so far no go and I've been at it for a while. But of course I am very choosy at 54 and a half I'm looking for that young good looking one that GOD has for me.

Welcome to the blogosphere! I've only recently entered myself, but welcome anyway!

I will be keeping an eye on this blog-all things marriage interest me. :)

I think it works differently for everyone-in my culture [Asian] there's always an aunty/uncle who'll find prospective prospects and introduce them to the family.

Or if you like someone you could always be direct but modest, similar to Khadija [RA] and the Propher [SAW] and ask them to speak to your guardians etc.
All the best of luck!

Salaams all. if you see someone you think is marriage material at a conference the best thing to do is ask/find someone that may know them and try and hear out/find out their name. or better still get your dad or elder brother to try and be friends with him! no boundaries are broken that way!
